Most hyped film of the year “Himmatwala” had started below
expectation on Friday and instead of taking jump on Saturday and Sunday showed
undesired drop. Film received negative reviews and negative word of mouth finished its
game. Film finished first weekend with disappointing figure 26.50 crores.
The film started weekdays with similar trend and collected 4.5
crores. Again, it showed 10-15% drop on Tuesday and collected 3.75 crores which
brought total domestic collection around 35 crores after five days. It has also done similar business on overseas centers and
collected 5 crores plus on first weekend.
Film was already performing below average in
multiplex but now it started to drop on mass centers where it had performed
well on weekend. Film will finish first week above 40 crores and life time
collection would stay around 55-60 crores. Production cost of film is 72 crores
exclude promotion cost so it is big flop.
Director Sajid Khan had made multiple claims before release but making
claim does not work. To make a successful film there is need of pouring
everything in right proportion; if you forget it people will give such response. People want
to see comedy and action but that should make some sense, at least in India.
Performance of film gives message, “excess of everything is bad
either it is dialoguebazzi or indigestible action sequence”.
