Before release nobody had idea that “Chashme Baddoor” will do such
kind of performance. Biggest problem with director David Dhawan was absence of
lead actor Ali Jafar who is a Pakistani actor. He did not get visa, therefore
he was not available for promotion campaign.
And it was strange feeling for David
Dhawan to promote film without lead actor, any way there was no other option
and he had to go alone all places for promotion. He was very anxious about
future of film. But all his worry flew away on Friday when film took fantastic
opening and got great word of mouth.
Film took big jump on Saturday & Sunday and finished 1st
weekend with 19.20 crores. But still there was some illusion how it will do on
weekday. Monday performance removed all illusion. Film did very well and
collected around 3.40 crores with a slight drop of 25% from Friday. Film passed
the Monday litmus test.
If we talk about Tuesday, it continued good performance
and collected around 2.95 crores. Now, 5 days business, “Chashme Baddoor” has
collected 25.18 crores and it will finish first week around 30 crores that
would be an awesome figure. Right now, life time domestic box office collection
looks around 50 crores.
As far as international box office business is concerned it has
done good business in Pakistan and UAE and overall overseas box office collection
of first weekend is 3.50 crores according to Taran Aadarsh. Total worldwide
collection reached 28.68 crores.
