First Superstar of Indian cinema Rajesh Khanna criminated today at Vile Parle. Grandson Arav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar assisted him. Yesterday he was passed away after a long illness. Today it was raining but it did not stop thousands of fans to gather on the road to pay tribute to Bollywood’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna.
The final journey of legend started around 10 a.m. from his residence Aashirwad in Bandra. His body was placed in a transparent casket, on a truck decorated with white flowers. The procession started from his Bandra residence and went through Carter Road, Turner Road and S. V. road before reaching the crematorium. The original plan was to have longer procession, but due to rain it was kept short, but it didn’t disappoint his fans, who gather in huge numbers.
In his last journey, his wife Dimple Kapadia, his youngest daughter Rinke, and son-in-law Akshay Kumar, were with him. There were thousands of his fan and lots of members from film industry, relatives and friends gathered to say a tearful goodbye to first superstar of Indian cinema, Rajesh Khanna. It signified the great loss of a great star.
Among the biggies of film industry who attended last rites were millennium star Amitabh Bachchan, his son & actor Abhishek Bachchan, producer and director Karan Jouhar, director Sajid Khan, actor, Vinod Khanna, Manoj Kumar, Rani Mukerji, music director Annu Mallik, and Aadesh Shrivastava. Most of the big celebrities were absent on this occasion. Most surprising thing was no any Khan attended last rites. Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan had come yesterday at Rajesh Khanna’s house but Amir Khan not seen anywhere.
The last word said by Rajesh Khanna, “Time up ho gaya, pack up”. After this saying he left this world.
