Ranbir Kapoor and Pallavi Sarda starrrer film“ Besharam” was released on 3600 and 700 screens in India and Overseas on 2nd, October, 2013. It was second biggest release in Hindi film history after Chennai Express which was released over 3700 and 700 + domestic and overseas centers. It was also second film of director Abhinav Kayshap after super hit film Dabangg in 2010. The film took opening of 19.50 crores less than expected figure (25 cr) though it was good but not excellent. Film received average to negative reviews and so was word of mouth therefore it proved titanic on box office.
The film showed huge fall 65% on Thursday and collected round 6.50
crores; further it showed 15% drop on Friday and collected around 5.75 crores.
Since, these two days were working day so there was still some hope that it
will take some jump on Saturday and Sunday but it remained same on Saturday and
took some jump on Sunday and collected around 7.50 crores but that was not
enough and film finished weekend around 44.50 crores.
Film declared flop by Box office of India after 4 days business
and it continued same trend on weekday and collected only 7.50 crores which was
9 crores less than expected figure as it had done on weekend. Film finished
first weekend around 52.20 crores which is very low and the way film has
performed in first week there is no hope even to cross 60 crores life time mark
on domestic box office.
If we talk about Overseas business it also not good and in 9 days
business it has collected around Rs. 13.30 crores ($2.2 million) and brings
total first week collection around 76.50 crores. Budget of film is 60 crores
and other expenses like; promotion, marketing & advertising is 18 cr. So total
production cost is around 78 crores which is impossible to recover from
domestic centers.
Now, let us talk about 2nd week business, film has done similar business on second Friday as on Thursday and collected around 00.65 crores on reduced screens and now it has only 4 days for business. On Wednesday, it will be restricted on fewer screens by mass release of Akshay Kumar’s “Boss”. So it will finish around 55 crores on domestic box office. film is big flop.
