India won the Under-19 World Cup Cricket. In the final, India defeated defending champion Australia by 6 wickets. Captain Unmukt Chand played a superb captain’s inning and made unbeaten century. The final was played in Townsville, Australia, on Sunday, August 26, 2012. India won this title third time.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 226 runs. Australian beginning was not good. They lost quick 4 wickets on 38 runs and came under pressure. Captain William Bosisto and Trevor Head stop the flow of wickets and made a partnership of 65 runs. After fall of Bosisto’s wicket, Ashton Turner came and made 43 runs. He made a partnership of 87 runs with Trevor Head. This partnership helped Austria to score 225/8 runs in 50 overs. Sandeep Singh bowled superbly and took 4/54.
Starting of Indian side was also not good. They lost the important wicket of in-form Prashant Chopra (0) in the very first over. But Captain Unmukt Chand and Baba Aparajith managed the inning and gave a brilliant 73 runs’ partnership for second wicket. After this, India lost two quick wickets.
Captain Unjukt Chand and Smit Patel played patiently and prevent themselves to take unnecessary rishq. They played superbly and chased the target of 226 runs in just 47.3 over. Unmukt played an unbeaten superb captain’s inning and made century.
