Preview & Prediction Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Doubara

PREVIEW:“Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Doubaara” is a crime thriller gangster film directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor & Sobha Kapoor. The film is starrer Akshay Kumar, Emraan Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre in lead role. This is sequel of “Once Upon A Time in Mumbai” came in 2010 starrer Ajay Devgyn as Sultan, Emraan Hashmi as Soab and Prachi Desai. The story of film is started from there where it was finished in first installment. Melodious music of film is composed by Pritam and story is written by Rajat Arora.

 Initially, it was set to release on 8th August, on the eve of Eid but announcement of Rohit Shetty directed and Shahrukh Khan Starrer film “Chennai Express” on same date made controversy. Fight for screen space went for more than two months between two producers but later they made a deal and release date of OUATIMD extended to 15th August, Independence day. 

STORY: After killing Sultan, Soab run away from Mumbai to Dubai and comes back after 20 year to rule over Mumbai underworld. Emraan Hashmi has played a small role in this installment. He will be seen in ephemeral role when he ran away to Dubai. Soab’s character after 40 years is played by Akshay Kumar and Emraan Khan has played new charachter.

PREDICTION: The film made enough buzz and set to release on National Holiday, Independent day so film will take big opening but screen space will play major role. So far, it is not clear, but expected to release over 2000-2500 screens. Success of film is largely depends on Akshay’s star power but if there would be good content then it can make new record in the crime thriller genre. The film made good buzz after second promo and the way film has been presented villain’s character, it can impress people.

On the basis of expected screen space 2000-2500, film should take opening of 20-25 crores on Opening day.  First Weekend collection should be in the range of 60-70 crores and first week around 90-100 crores. Overseas lifetime collection should be around 20-25 crores and life time domestic around 115-125 crores. Figure can vary according to screen space available on 15th August and content. Since two big films (Chennai Express) are releasing after 6 days difference so business of both film will be affected.
