“Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Doubara” has taken bumper opening on Independence
Day on limited screens. The film started with 80-90% occupancy in the morning
show and increased up to 95-100% in later shows. The film was houseful at many
place and many people returned with empty hand, overall occupancy across the country was 90%.
The film did earth shattering performance across the country but
it is bad luck of this film that it did not get enough screens. If it had got
around 2500 screens yesterday, first day collection would have been around 23
crores. But whatever screens it got on
first day, it did unexpected performance and first day collection has come more than 11 crores. This is biggest opening of Akshay Kumar's film if consider screen occupancy (95%).
According to deal happened between two producers, Chennai Express
will get 1750 screens and OUATIMD will get 2500 screen from 16th August, but on
15th August CE will take 2700 screens and OUATIMD 1200 screens. So OUATIMD is not in win-win position, it did not
get full opportunity of Independence Day, though it left Eid occasion.
Now, it has opportunity to do better business for a week though “Chennai
Express” took all advantage of both national holiday but as Akshay Kumar said, “Every
film has it’s own destiny” so it will decided later. The way film got opening,
it will continue super performance on coming days and finish first weekend with
amazing figure and proved all prediction wrong.
Opening Day Collection From 1200 screens:- 11.00 crores plus
