“Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Doubara” completed first week with
decent figure; it was released on 15th August on the occasion of Independence Day
on limited screens and took earth shattering opening. From next day it was available
on broad scale but film could not maintain that pace onward.
There is lots of reason behind. First super performance of Chennai
Express, second released at wrong time, third it did not get enough single
screens whenever it is mass dominated film, fourth whenever appeared on broad
scale and shared screens with Chennai Express, did not get prime time slot. The
script was written month ago as I told earlier. Hence film is paying cost for
Balaji Tele Films mistake.
Now, let us come to the performance of film in first week. The
film stared superbly on first day but did decent business in week. Film took some
advantage of festival and took some jump on Rakshabandhan. Now film has
completed first week around 58.60 crores as estimated on domestic box office
and 65.60 crores worldwidely, this figure is not a bad figure if consider the circumstance.
A mass dominated film cannot perform superbly in multiplex.
Film’s performance on overseas centers is, off course below per
where it collected only 7 crores. Film will lose reasonable number of screens
today due to new release “Madras CafĂ©” so it business will be affected. Budget
of film is around 80 crores including promotion expense so recovering production
depends on 2nd weekend performance. Let see how it perform on 2nd weekend
onward.
