“Chennai Express” had done outstanding
performance on first weekend and shattered lots of records and holds well on
Monday but film showed some drop on Tuesday and collected around 11.50 crores.
If we talk about Wednesday business,
film started slowly in the morning show with 25% occupancy and continued same
trend in the day shows but it improved in evening and night show and collected
12.20 crores, better than Tuesday. Now, films total domestic collection after
five day is 136.72 crores and total worldwide collection is 194.86 crores.
Today is national holiday and
releasing date of another super star Akshay Kumar’s film “Once Upon A Time InMumbai Doubara” so CE will lose a big number of screens. It is heard that new
film is releasing over 2500 screens, that means CE will shrunk over 1000-1200
screens and its business will be affected. Film will also get competition with
new OUATIMD but it depends on performance.
Since it is national holiday so it
will take good jump and collect bigger amount but it would be second choice of audience.
It will touch 150 crores mark in first week. This week will decide whether CE
will cross benchmark of 200 crores on home box office or break “Three Idiots”
record. Budget of film is 90 crores and it
was recovered on fist weekend so film will soon come in profitable zone
