Being a horror genre film and a new concept of psychological thriller,
it was expected that “AATMA” will take
good opening and would be a hit film but film started slowly on opening day and
remained similar with slight jump on Saturday and Sunday. Reviews were not bad
but it could not earn positive word of mouth therefore finished first weekend
with below expectation figure 5.15 crores.
The film started with big fall on Monday and remained same except Wednesday
(Holi holiday). It collected around 3 cores on weekday and brought total
domestic collection around 8 crores in first week. The film recovered
production cost but it could not be a successful film.
The film has almost finished its run. Today it will disappear from
most of screens due to mega release of “Himmatwala” over 3000 screens. It will
finish life time less than 10 crores.
