India finished
1st inning at 503 runs and took lead of 266 runs. Today India began their
inning form 311 for 1 and extending toward a mammoth score but after fall of
Murli Vijay’s wicket, middle order fail to add more runs.
Pujara (204)
and Vijay played a brilliant inning of (167). Main attraction of third day game
was Cheteshwar Pujara double century (205 runs) and partnership of 370 runs
between these two batsmans. They broke 34 year old second wickets partnership record
of 344 runs set by Sunil Gavaskar (182 runs) and Dilip Vengsarkar (157 runs) in
1978 against West Indies at Kolkata. Now,
India took 266 runs lead in first inning and is in strong position
Australia started 2nd inning after tea break
and scored 72/2 at the end of third day game. Ashwin took all two wickets.
