“Race 2”becomes
first film of 2013 to cross the benchmark of 100 crores. The film was release
on 25th January and got the advantage of Republic day. Business of film was
stupendous on weekend but it showed 55% fall on weekdays. Despite of big fall
on weekday it managed to collect around 76 crores in first week. Starting of second
week was less than expectation but it did more than expected business on
weekday and cross the benchmark of 100 crores on 14th day. Last year “Agneepath”
was release on same time and achieved this benchmark.
It is first
film of Saif Ali Khan to cross 100 crores mark and it is time to celebrate it.
So far Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgyn, Amir Khan, Hritik Roshan, John
Abraham, Madhavan, Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan Sanjay Dutt and Shahrukh Khan got
this opportunity.
The film did
fantastic business on Thursday and expected collection should come around 1.90-2.00
crores which brings second week collection 24.15 crores. It also performed well
on international box office and collected 30 crores.
Third week would be tougher because it will be
replaced from maximum screens by “Special Chabbis and “ABCD: Anybody Can Dance”
so it will be limited on fewer screens. Domestic lifetime collection looks
around 104 crores and worldwide lifetime collection around 136 crores
