There is one question hovering in the
mind of every film lovers, why release date of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai
Doubara postponed to 15th August. Does Akshay Kumar scar with Shahrukh Khan? Or something else? This kind of rumor was
floating on various news Channels and website few days ago. What is actual
cause? Let us find it.
Actually, job of fixing release date
is producer’s job. So the fight between Balaji Telefilms and UTV Motion
Pictures started when UTV announced Chennai Express’ release date. UTV
played a game. They pressurized distributors and theater owner to book all screens
for Chennai Express if wanted Himmatwala.
This incident upset Ekta Kapoor. She
tried to shot out this problem but UTV was not ready for any negotiation
therefore She also offered a pack, “if wants Balaji Production’s film, book
reasonable screen for Once Upon A Time”.
Unfortunately, their two films could
not do much on box office and loss the opportunity to bargain, wherever after disastrous
performance of Himmatwala UTV was also in same position but mega success of Yeh
Jawani Hai Deewani changed the game. Most of theater owner decided to go with Chennai
Express.
If both films had released on 8th
August then Chennai Express had got 2500-2800 screens and Once Upon A Time
1800-2000 screens.
Therefore a meeting was held between
two production house and they reached at conclusion that if Once Upon A Time
will release on 15th August, then, Chennai Express will leave reasonable
screens in 2nd week. Now, Once Upon a Time will get 2500-2700 screens on 15th
August.
Chennai Express is very profitable position and expected to release
over 3500 screens or more and it will get advantage of Eid and Independence Day
holiday. In this decision Shahrukh Khan played a major role but Akshay Kumar
kept him away from any controversy and prepare for damage.
