“Joker” got poor opening on the box office. There was 20-25% occupancy in the theater in initial shows. Some shows at some multiplexes were cancelled. The reason behind it is said to be not good promotion, bad contents, Shirish Kumnder, negative critics review and the distance of Akshay Kumar from promotion campaign.
This is Akshay Kumar’s 100th film and it was very important for him, his last two films were blockbuster and he was on hectic, but he did not care about it nor take interest in promotion campaign and maintained a distance. At most of places Sonakshi went alone for promotion. On ABP news Farah Khan came with Sonakshi Sinha but Akshay was absent. The reason behind it is promise which was not fulfilled by Shirish Kunder as it is mentioned in an article published on Hindustan Times.
There is buzz in the industry, when the film was got ready and showed to Akshay Kumar, he was not satisfied with it and wanted some changes but Shirish Kunder denied to making any changes. Shirish had already changed that script which was listened to Akshay. He promised Akshay to convert it into 3D but later he refused. After all those difference Akshay completed the film. He has a record, he never left any film incomplete ( pays its cost) so he completed the film but kept him away from promotion campaign.
If these matters are correct then Akshay has to rethink about his policy. It is very important for his career. After two blockbusters one flop is not good. He should choose the script carefully and if he is not satisfied with script or anything which was promised but not fulfilled he should left the film otherwise it will be cost his as reputation.
This massage went in audience and It looks as audience was mind set to ignore film that is why film has not taken good opening.
